First time...

On the mountain since two years ?! Going on these big hills to try to slide down with the elegance of a pro, yeah right... in my dreams maybe! It was more like this: going on the hill and take lessons in babyclass and have lots of fun the whole day: sounds more like it.

Friday morning 8am, meeting Paul in Kayak Crossing to catch the bus to Vail: bus runs at least half an hour late. In Vail getting first a hot Starbucks, black, no sugar, and then our (free) rentals for the day and then on the bus to Lionshead to go up with the Gondola to our skiclass level 1. With a bit of delay, but we got there. For me not really the first time on skis, but I wanted to learn how to turn and stop, with the elegance of a pro... For Paul, it was his first time ever on skis, and he said more successfull then the snowboarding lessons he had before. (I do have the idea that snowboarders are spending an awfull lot of time on their royal behind, correct me if I am wrong). After lunch a few more hours on the hill, which was very lightgreen for the connaisseurs, with for both of us very good results and very cold faces. Taking the skis back to the shop was next and then finally, a nice beer... or two at Garfinkels in Lionshead.

Good fun and I will get up there again very soon.

Cold????

If you look it up in a dictionary, you will get the following discription:

having a relatively low temperature; having little or no warmth

If you apply this discription to yesterday mornings temperatures, -29 C° (!!!!!!), you will understand what this means. Why did I came back again? Oh, yes, driving, skiing, beautifull region, etc. But to tell you the truth, I do prefer a + 29 C°!!

Back in Colorado...

Already since October 28, but haven't been real active writing. After a very interesting trip from Paramaribo to the States, I only arrived in Denver with a 24 hour delay. I had to change planes in Trinidad, but we when we arrived, we got a plane without pilot. So we had to wait for a new pilot who had to fly in from Miami. Comprende???

First weekend training for Lead Driving, so to speak, teach the new drivers how to drive according to CME regulations... Mouth full. And till so far, that is all I have been doing. I am still waiting for my Colorado State drivers license. Immigration is being very difficult and slow and I can only use my European drivers license for a month. You can do the count... I have faith that it will be OK very soon. I will keep you posted....

Below some pictures from today. Vail village and some pigeons who thought it was really cold (which was true, really cold!!)
